FAQ
Answers to the questions broadcasters and production teams ask most often before starting a studio project with us.
Frequently asked questions
Below are the questions we hear most from teams planning or improving a studio. If yours is not covered, send it through the contact page and we will answer directly.
What kinds of studios do you work with?
We work with studios producing television news and live shows, from a single-desk bulletin room to a larger set with guests and several cameras. The size matters less than the format. During an enquiry we ask about the room, the crew and the programme, then tell you honestly whether our services fit.
Can we book just one service rather than the full package?
Yes. Equipment setup, camera operation, lighting design, sound and audio workflow, and live show planning can each be arranged separately. Many clients combine two or three, because the work overlaps, but nothing requires it. The written quotation lists exactly what is included for the services you choose.
How does an enquiry turn into a booking?
You send an enquiry through the contact page. We reply with questions, then provide a written quotation or confirmation describing the work. Once you have agreed it, we issue an invoice, which is paid by bank transfer. There is no online checkout, and nothing is charged until you have confirmed in writing.
What should we prepare before a site visit?
Floor plans or photographs of the room are the most useful, along with your equipment list and any limits on power, rigging or access. It also helps to know the programme format, typical running time and the size of your crew. If you do not have all of this, we can gather it during the visit.
Do you provide camera operators for a single show?
Yes, our operators can cover individual bulletins or live programmes as well as longer runs. We agree framing, moves and talkback with your director beforehand and join a rehearsal where possible. Tell us the format and timings in your enquiry, and the quotation will reflect them.
What happens if we need to cancel or change the work?
Cancellations and refunds follow our payment and refund policy, which is published on the site. In general, tell us as early as you can in writing, and we will confirm what applies to your job. Changes to scope are agreed in writing too, so the quotation always matches the work.
Will our own crew be able to run the studio afterwards?
That is the aim. At handover we leave notes on camera positions, lighting states, audio routing and the rundown format, and we walk your crew through them. We want you to repeat programmes confidently, and to contact us for something new rather than something unclear.
How do I reach you with a question not listed here?
Use the contact form on the contact page, or phone us on 01823 947 4398 or write to hello@artivory.net. We are based at 14 Canal Wharf Road in Taunton. Tell us a little about your studio and what you are trying to achieve, and we will reply with practical suggestions.
